During this one-day course, you will learn more about archaeo-geophysical methods and why and how to use them. The course will delve into geophysical applications and their prospection in archaeology sites. It also includes discussions and the preparation of innovations on archaeo-geophysics.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understanding the basics of the most-used archaeo-geophysical techniques
  • Understanding the benefits of geophysics before, during & after excavation planning phase
  • Develop skills to apply geophysical techniques

Programme:

10:00-12:00: Archaeo-geophysics methods, why and how do we use them?

12:00-12:45: lunch (at own expense)

12:45-14:00: Geophysical applications on archaeological sites in Turkey

14:00-14:15: break

14:15-16:00: Magnetic, GPR and Resistivity prospection in Seleukeia Sidera, Turkey

16:00-16:15: break

16:15-17:00: GPR and Resistivity prospection in Sagalassos, Turkey

Credits: ARCHON members can receive 1 ECT for attending the course and handing in a reflection report afterwards.
